Locations Tab

The Locations tab allows you to specify which locations to include in or exclude from the search. A check next to the location indicates that the location is explicitly enabled via the policy. A partially filled checkbox indicates that the location is explicitly disabled via the policy. A cleared checkbox indicates that the location is not included in the policy and is enabled or disabled as per the application default.

Field Description
Files

Check this option to enable the searching of files and then select the folder location in which to search for files from the drop-down list.

  • Documents: Searches the Documents folder.
  • Computer: Searches the entire computer.
  • Custom: Searches specific folders as specified using the Add button in the Custom Folders ribbon group.
    • Search compressed files: Check this option to enable the searching of compressed files.
Email

Check this option to enable the searching of email. If this option is not checked, none of the settings below it have any effect.

  • Search attachments: Check this option to enable Spirion to search for personal information inside email attachments. Attachments that contain compressed files are not searched unless you also select the Search compressed files option.
  • Search Exchange and Outlook profiles: Check this option to enable Spirion to search within your local Outlook folders and any available remote Exchange Server folders. You must check this option in order for the other Outlook settings below it to have any effect.
    • Include remote mail folders: Check this option to enable Spirion to search for personal information within remote folders connected via Microsoft Exchange, IMAP and additional server types.
      • Exclude Exchange public folders: Checking this option prevents Spirion from searching Microsoft Exchange public folders within an Outlook profile.
      • Exclude IMAP folders: Checking this option prevents Spirion from searching any Outlook or Exchange folders linked to an IMAP account.
  • Search Mozilla Thunderbird: Checking this option enables Spirion to search for personal information within your local Thunderbird profiles and folders.
Browsers

Checking this option enables Spirion to search within Web Browsers for personal information.

Note: Web browser search is supported for the following versions and operating systems:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 through 11 on Windows Vista through Windows 7
  • Mozilla Firefox version 2+ on Windows Vista and later
