Endpoint Status

Each endpoint in the Endpoint List is displayed with an icon to indicate its platform (operating system) and a colored dot to indicate the current status of policies on that endpoint (policies state) or that the endpoint has been scheduled for removal.

The endpoint icon can be any of the following:

  1. ico-win: The endpoint is running Microsoft Windows.
  2. ico-mac: The endpoint is running Mac OS X.
  3. : The endpoint is running Linux.
  4. : The platform of the endpoint is unknown. Until the endpoint reports to the Console, the platform of an endpoint is not known. For endpoints older than version 5.0, they may only report platform information after a search has been completed and the icon will be updated at that time. Newer endpoints report their platform during their initial registration process following installation. If the endpoint is unmanaged (does not have endpoint software installed and was searched remotely), the platform will most likely always remain unknown.

The endpoint status can be any of the following:

  1. : A green dot indicates that the endpoint is reporting to the Console and has applied all of the policies assigned to it.
  2. : An orange dot indicates that the endpoint is reporting to the Console but has not yet applied all of the policies assigned to it.
  3. : A yellow yield sign indicates that a policy assigned to the endpoint has failed to be applied to it.
  4. ico-win: When there is no dot, it indicates that the endpoint has not yet polled the server. This may indicate that communication with the endpoint is not working correctly or that the endpoint is unmanaged (e.g., does not have endpoint software installed and was searched remotely).
  5. : A red disabled sign indicates that the endpoint has been scheduled to be removed from the Console but the Console has not yet processed the removal. This occurs when the endpoint has a lot of data and, rather than removing that data at the time of the request, the Console schedules the removal for a later time. The removal will be created as a Service Job of type "Remove Endpoints" and will be automatically removed after successfully executing.
